Bindya has a meeting with the three daughters in law. She explains to them, that it is a duty of a daughter in law, to look after the welfare of the family. She allocates the responsibilities of each one. To Saakshi, she gives the responsibility of the kitchen. To Phoolsania she allocates the responsibility of maintaining sufficient rations of food materials. To Kamini she gives the cleaning of vessels and clothes. Kamini argues with Bindya, that she is not used to do this work. She has come from a house, where she did not have to do it. Bindya tells her in return, that she is no more in her mother's house, and now her house is the Sinha house, and it is her duty to look after it. She has to be further told that this is not a charity to the household, but a duty and responsibility. Kamini still argues. Bindya gives her an ultimatum. She tells her that she has to do what she is told, or else, she will have to bear the consequences. When she is told, that Kamini was not treated like this by her mother in law, Bindya replies, that things have changed, and now she has to do what she tells her, as without it, she implies the family will be thrown on the streets. Kamini is stunned, and falls into a reverie and thinks of what happened when the men from the Company came to reclaim the house and property. It was on Bindya's word, that they went back, so Kamini feels that she has to do what Madam tells her. She agrees to go and do the washing, but she does not like it, and makes some excuses, and when Prem comes to see her, she palms on to him the work, and tells him her back is aching and she needs rest. She goes away, and Prem does the work. On the streets, Suraj is walking in search of jobs. He is rejected at one place after another, and finally, he sees a poor couple, the man feeding his wife with a dry roti. Suraj remembers why he went in search of a job. Saakshi has refused to eat, until he can bring his own money and feed her with the food made out of it. He thinks of what Madam said, and comes to the conclusion, that whatever she is, it is true, that he has no qualifications to do any work. Just then he happens to pass by a garage. A man, who owns a car, is arguing with the garage owner, that he should call the mechanic and repair the car, as without it, he will face losses of lakhs of rupees. Suraj hears it, and goes close to them and offers to help. The Garage Owner, drives him away, with abuses. The car owner tells him to call his mechanic. He is on the phone, when Suraj quietly picks the tools and works on the car, and repairs it, and then starts the car. The car owner is surprised and praises Suraj and rewards an unwilling Suraj. He drives his car away, and Suraj is walking away from the Garage, in despair. The garage owner, calls him back and employs him. Suraj is happy, that now he can feed his wife Saakshi.
