Ramdei and Laxmi exchange their views on what is happening, and the former is all concerned about what people will say about their family, if the news comes out that her son is impotent. She does not mind if the wife is barren, but their men folk, have to be above board, and this stupid conviction is a bane in their society. Laxmi uses this fear to her advantage, undermining her sister in law. When they decide to have a pooja and Laxmi asks for money, Radha objects that a Pandit who loves money can not be trusted, and her mother in law, stops her from giving her views, as she is competent enough to make decisions for the family. She considers that even though the house belongs to her son, she has a right over it.
In the clinic, Sarju is given a silent explanation by the doctor, and his face turns grave, and finally, he takes the report and comes home, where everyone is waiting for the news. Ramdei expects the worst. Sarju makes is grave entrance in a measured step, sauntering step by step into this mansion, and all the time, makes a face which leads all to expect bad news. Of course with another director the scene might have been different, but we do not have any choice but to report, what this particular director and his team have given us.
Sarju is asked by his mother, what news he has brought, and he in his wisdom, starts on the wrong foot, by saying the report is bad, but, the rest he is not allowed to say. Ramdei starts her litany of abuses, and blames Radha and her son, for bringing this misfortune of her respected family. No one is given a chance to say anything, except, Laxmi adds some fuel to the fire, and the great Maharani, feels warm, with her supporting words.
Sarju, finally tells his brother, that he had more to say, but was not allowed to speak, but he tells him, that all hope is not lost, and the doctor has assured that there is treatment, and he is still able to be a father, and have a child of his own. Kesoo's face lights up with a smile, and Ramdei, unwillingly feels relaxed. Laxmi and her family feel let down, as their plans are going to fail.
The Postman comes with the news that he received a call from Gopal, Heeraman's son. He is sick, and will not be able to send money this month. Heeraman thinks how to help him, and his wife wonders loudly, what they will do without his money. Ramdei offers to help, but Heeraman, tells her that he will manager. Laxmi feels that her chance to get the money has been stumped by her husband, and she pleads with her sister in law, and she brings the money and gives her a wad of one hundred rupee notes. Heeraman is given a part for the medication of her son, and keeps the rest to herself, and goes in and dreams of how she got her sister in law to loosen her grip on the money.
Suddenly Vishnoo, appears from nowhere, and snatches the wad of notes from his mother and she is stunned, and he has heard her saying that a wife has right over the husband's money, and Vishnoo gives her a post script, saying "and the son has the right over his parent's money" and pockets the money, as his mother abuses him. Then Phoolmani the greedy wife comes and wants her pound of flesh from her husband, and he gives her one hudred ruppes ,and walks away with the rest.
