Amala Paul Signed Malayalam Film Indian Rupee Opposite PrithvirajAmala Paul, the heroine who made waves in Kollywood with her Mynaa, is now going back to her roots in Malayalam films. She is going to play heroine opposite Prithviraj in the Malayalam film titled Indian Rupee directed by Renjith.

Amala at the moment is flying high in Kollywood and has three very good projects on hand. She plays Vikram’s wife in Deiva Thirumagal, Aadharva’s romantic pair in Muppozhudhum Un Karpanai and is Arya’s love interest in Vettai.

Remember Amala had made her debut in Malayalam through Lal Jose directed critically acclaimed Neelathamara, in which she had done a small, but significant role. She also did a cameo in Ithu Nammude Katha.

Actress Vijyalakshmi Filed Case Once AgainActress Vijayalakshmi’s police complaint against director Seeman, has put him on a sticky wicket.

The actress who was Suriya’s heroine in Friends alleged in her complaint that she was in a relationship with Seeman. He had promised to marry her but later reneged on his promise.

Vijayalakshmi was grilled by Valasaravakkam police for two hours. She said that she can “provide adequate proof of her relationship with Seeman at the right time including photographs to confirm the relationship.”

Based on these factors the police has registered a case against the director under various sections of the IPC including harassment and outraging the modesty of a woman, rape and cheating.

However Seeman’s lawyer said: “These charges are baseless. This is an attempt to tarnish the director’s image. We will be filing a Rs 5 Cr defamation suit against the actress.”

Vikram Got Conferred Honorary Doctorate at Italy UniversityVersatile star Vikram has been conferred honorary doctorate by a University in Italy for his excellence in acting. Universita Popolare Degli Studi Di Milano (UUPN) which is popularly known as People’s University in Milan has conferred the doctorate of fine arts in acting to Chiyan Vikram.

Vikram is supposedly the first ever Indian actor to have recieved the doctorate from a European university for their contribution to cinema. The star recieved the doctorate in the presence of delegates from China and West Africa in a ceremony on Sunday.

Vikram addressed the gathering and received the honour. Prof Dr Marco Grapecia who is the President of the university, members of the planning commission of China and special invitees were present at the ceremony.

The star will be back in India in the first week of June. He is currently busy promoting his film Deiva Thirumagal which is releasing in Telugu as ‘Nanna’. It stars Anushka Shetty in the lead role.

Tamil Film Producers Council Banned Actress IleanaIs leading south Indian actress Ileana going to get banned by the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) Ileana who had a few years back done KD in Tamil, had become a big heroine in Tollywood but avoided Kollywood like a plague.

After many unsuccessful attempts she was to be re-launched in Tamil with Vikram’s Vijay directed Deiva Thiru Magal. But the actress at the last minute walked out and was replaced by Amala Paul. She did not want to play the role of a married woman with a child in the film.

The producer of Deiva Thirumagal Mogan Natarajan has another story to tell. He says she took an advance of Rs 36 lakhs and never cared to return it.

Mogan in an interview to a newspaper has said that she had given the same dates to do Shankar’s Nanban, where she is playing Vijay’s heroine.

The peeved producer also added that Ileana was evasive about repaying his signing amount. The latest we hear is that Mogan Natarajan a veteran producer will be approaching TFPC (Tamil Film Producers Council) to issue a red card. Meanwhile,  Ileana has fallen foul of Telugu producers after she stayed away from the promotions of her NTR film Shakthi.

Swathi as Slum Girl in Porali

Subramaniapuram’ fame Swathi, who is back in Tamil cinema with ‘Porali’ directed by Samuthirakani, is playing a slum dweller in the film. “It is yet another meaty role for her,” according to unit sources.

“Since she has to speak pucca local Tamil, the Telugu girl is learning the Chennai language. Her character will be very bubbly and will make the audience to laugh out loud,” they add.

‘Porali’, produced by Sasikumar, revolves around five protagonists. “The director has finalised four of them (Sasikumar, Swathi, ‘Allari’ Naresh and Vasundhara) and a hunt is one for the fifth.”

The film, like the previous movies of Sasikumar and Samuthirakani, will have a right mixture of humour, sentiment and action. “The shooting will be completed in 80 days,” says the director.

Dabangg Remake Tamil Version Title OsthiThe puja of the STR starrer Osthi – The Cool Cop, the remake of the super hit Hindi film Dabangg took place at the AVM pillayar kovil this morning. The event was attended by a host of Kollywood celebs including Rama Narayanan, RB Chowdary, T Rajender and Salman Khan’s brother Arbaz Khan who flew in from Mumbai for the launch.

The film stars STR playing a cop for the first time, taking the role of the original Chulbul Pandey, played by Salman. There was a stiff competition for the remake rights of this super hit but ultimately it was producers Balaji Real Media and  Mohan Apparao who bagged it.

The film is directed by Dharani and Sonakshi Sinha’s role is played by Richa Gangopadhyaya who was not present at the launch. The role of Dimple, the mother of the hero, will be done by Revathi who returns to Tamil films after a gap. At the press meet following the puja, Dharani disclosed that Sonu Sood would continue as the villain in the Tamil version as well while Gopinath is doing the camerawork. S Thaman handles the music.

The film is a first cop role for STR who disclosed that he is growing a moustache for the role. The shoot will begin next month. I want to try all genres of films and playing a cop seems an exciting prospect for me. I am observing some cops and also doing some body building before the start of the shooting. I am a Salman fan and I loved the film when I saw it and I thought I would suit the role. I am sure Dharani will give me a new color. said STR.

Revathi who was also present, added that she was confident of doing the film once she knew that Dharini was at the helm. Jithan Ramesh who was present, plays the role of STR’s brother in the film, which was originally played by Arbaz Khan.

Eththan Movie Release Date ConfirmEththan will be credited as the first Tamil film to hit the screens after the results for Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are announced. For, the movie will hit the screens on May 20, exactly a week after the poll results.

Directed by newcomer L Suresh, the film brings together the ‘Kalavani’ duo, producer Nazir of Sherali Films and actor Vimal, once again. And this too is going to be a light-hearted entertainer.

Music is by Taj Noor, who hogged the limelight with ‘Vamsam’. “Eththan is about a carefree youngster who lives life in his own way. What changes him and what happens next is the crux of the film,” says Suresh.

Heroine is Sanusha of ‘Renigunta’ fame. On his part, Vimal says, “I share a very good rapport with Nazir and it’s a delight for me to work with him once again. Suresh has scripted a good story and ‘Eththan’ will rock.”

Hot Girl Nayan joined Rama Rajyam Unit

Nayantara is back in front of the camera as she has resumed shoot of her Telugu mythological Sri Rama Rajyam in Hyderabad. Meanwhile the actress who is avoiding media and public functions made a quiet entry at the 125 days celebration of her maiden Kannada film Super in Bangalore on May 1.

She shared the dais with veterans like Ambareesh and Saroja Devi and superstars like Upendra and Shivrajkumar. Remember Super is one of the biggest blockbusters in Kananda in recent times.

Nayantara joined the Rama Rajyam unit on May 3 at Ramaoji Rao studio in Hydearabad where a huge set is erected. She is shooting with Akkineni Nageswara Rao, the doyen of Telugu cinema who is playing the role of sage Valmiki, Nandamuri Balakrishna, who plays Lord Rama and Srikanth who dons the role of Lakshmana.

Sri Rama Rajyam is one of costliest mythological film made in Telugu with music by maestro Ilayaraja and directed by Bapu. The big question still remains whether Nayan will do another Kollywood film

Simbhu clarified that the roumour about his Marrige

Simbu says “All the rumors about my marriage are untrue. Currently I and my family are not even in the hunt of the bride. I will get married only when I find a girl of my liking.”

On his decision to work in Dabangg remake, Simbu said “I loved the film during the first glance itself and moreover I liked the attitude of the role played by Salman Khan. I am also happy that I am playing the role of a cop for the first time in my career.”

Remember the actress recently disclosed that she is in love. We learn that her man’s name is Raphael, an industrialist who is half-German and half-Swiss. “Both met during a New Year party,” say sources.

Raphael belonging to a big business family based in Portugal and Switzerland. His family is largest supplier of home electronics in Europe.

“What started as friendship slowly blossomed into love. And the couple had no problems in expressing it. Even elders in both the families are aware of the relationship and have given their consent,” sources further say.

However, both Divya and Raphael are not in a hurry to tie the knot. “They have some professional goals to achieve before entering the wedlock. While Rapheal is busy with his business, Divya has signed some interesting films.”

House of Tamil Comedian Vadivelu attacked

If recalled Vadivelu is the star of attraction during all the campaigns which were held by DMK and he has hit out Vijayakanth, DMDK leader with all cursing words.

Immediately after the poll results were out the comedian’s house at Saligramam was attacked. Now latest we hear is that his farmhouse near Padappai in the police limits of Manimangalam has been pelted with stones by a 30-member gang on Monday evening.

As per the Police sources it is known that a group of people have arrived to the farm house and started throwing stones at the farmhouse. The gang confessed that the comedian has built the farm house illegally by occupying the poromboke land.

Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed on behalf of Vadivelu with the Director General of Police. The complaint stated a demand against the gang who were threatening Vadivelu with terrible consequences.

Health condition of actor Rajanikanth improved

It is well known that Rajnikanth was admitted to the Sri Ram Chandra Hospital here for recurrent respiratory infection and gastro-intestinal problems, is stable and he is spending time with his family members.

According to a statement issued by the hospital, Rajnikanth has undergone relevant investigations and is receiving appropriate and comprehensive treatment by a team of doctors. His fundamental parameters are stable and there is nothing to worry about his health.

The 61 year old superstar was admitted May 13 for detailed investigations into his respiratory and gastro-intestinal problems – the third time in just over three weeks he has been admitted to a hospital.

This is something a strange and unusual situation which happened for Rajini’s Rana. Earlier many insurance companies were eager to provide cover for superstar Rajinikanth’s films but the situation has changed as the companies are on the back foot due to the adverse reports about the Rajini’s ill health.

New India Assurance and United India Insurance who covered the insurance risk for blockbuster hit Enthiran are now not interested to extend insurance coverage for Rana, according to a report by the online edition of a Hyderabad based financial newspaper.

A New India Assurance official said “By take into account of Rajini’s health, it is going to be a chancy proposal for us to provide insurance cover for the movie. We will not consider it any more”.

A senior officer of United India Insurance said “Insurance is given only against the incidence of uncertain events. No company will be undertaking this proposal as the lead star of the film itself is not good at health. Even if any company insures the film the coverage would keep out losses arising as a re­sult of Rajini’s health problems”.

There were reports in a section of the media that Tamannah refused to dub for her Telugu venture ‘100% Love’ following a tussle with the film’s producer over her remuneration. However, the actress’s answer is a big no to those ‘rumours’. “Someone is spreading such gossips to creat problems between me and the producer. There is not even an iota of truth in it.”

“I am not the one who would pull fight for petty issues. I am serious about my career and want to establish myself as a successful actress. Nothing else is in front of me now,” adds Tamannah. Currently acting opposite Dhanush in ‘Vengai’, Tamannah says, “Dhanush is a comfortable co-star while Hari is a real task master. Working with them is a great experience and I am enjoying it.”
