Short Update
1. TaAnu search frantically for Kuhu, Jonaki takes her from the lady, to take her back to the family
2. Kuhu goes in search of Taani and while attempting to climb the steps of a temple where she spots her, slips and falls.
3. Kuhu dies.
4. Taani in shock, very frozen.
Detailed Update
At the mela, TaAnu are searching frantically for Kuhu, as is the rest of the family. Kuhu is still in the car with the hitwoman, but has no clue that anything dangerous is happening. At some point Taani calls out for Kuhu, Kuhu recognizes her voice and tells the woman that it is Taani maami calling out to her. The woman tells her that Taani has rung her up personally with a promise to get lots of chocolates for her. Satisfied by this, Kuhu continues playing in the car.
In the meantime, Jonaki decides that it is time to take Kuhu, and pretends to find her. She tells the woman to leave and walks with Kuhu, but is lost in her thoughts. She muses on how this mela episode will bring Taani down in the eyes of her in-laws, and how no one will trust her with the children ever again. But in this short span of time, Kuhu goes missing again, because she is now attempting to find Taani.
Kuhu passes Neelu, who is questioning passersby about her wherabouts, and neither of them see each other. Kuhu however spots Taani at a temple and runs upstairs to meet her (they were using KZK Sneha's bg over here, which I love a lot LOL, how awful is it that Kuhu -- who's been loved by ALL of us despite our irritation with the Bachchon Ke Liye element -- gets this bg just MINUTES before they kill her off???Angry) Unfortunately, which making her way upstairs -- because the steps are so steep and because she's a kid who will obviously be very careless about her walking -- she topples over and falls to the bottom, which kills her instantly. Taani sees her falling and rushes down, followed by the rest of the family. Jonaki sees this, and is extremely horrified by what she has caused (Too late AngryAngry Why o why CVs do the good people in your serials have to rot in hell and these two poor excuses for human beings live as they please??)
The mela has a doctor onsite who insists on checking Kuhu before sending her to hospital. Taani in the meantime keeps pushing at the doctor to take her to hospital because Kuhu is bleeding heavily, but the doctor who is checking her pulse realises that the child is already dead, and tells this to the family. Neelu bends, weeping, and Taani gets hyterical. She screams that nothing has happened to Kuhu, she is just angry with her for leaving her alone so long. In her denial, she screams at everyone to rush Kuhu to hospital fast. Onu catches her from behind, and tries to tell her that Kuhu is no more, but she brushes him away every time he says so. In a mixture of grief and frustration, he yells that Kuhu is no more, which silences her into a state of shock (No words for this scene...a testimony to how much it affected is the fact that I've written this one scene from memory rather than watching it like I usually do for my updates...I couldn't bear to watch that scene again...it was too gutting and realistic for me. The first time I watched it there were tears in my eyes, and right now I just put the entire thing on mute and skipped it because that's how much it affected me. APK and HC are GIFTS for actors...that's all I can say).
The scene shifts to the Ganguly house, where the funeral is taking place. While everyone is in white and mourning, Taani is still wearing the sari she wore to the mela, and still in the same frozen state Cry (Poor Taani...she looks like such a lost little trapped bird here...) At this juncture, Riteish returns home from work, and finds the house to be full of people in white clothes. He walks to towards to the house, wondering at the crowd and clueless about what's happening (this is the only time I think Riteish has been depicted as halfway normal since his wedding to Ananya lol...none of those horrid crazed expressions or sickening smiles that Nikhil Arya has been forced to do in the name of acting...) As he enters the house, he hears a reporter speaking about the "death of Shekhar Ganguly's granddaughter" and freezes in shock, letting his coat and briefcase fall from his hands (Okay...maybe not like how Taani did, but...oh well, I'm sure you get the picture...) He enters the house to find himself face-to-face with Kuhu's portrait, on which a mala has been placed.
He walks slowly towards the corpse, and kneels in front of her, disbelieving. He removes the cloth and realises it is Kuhu, and cries out, holding Kuhu in his arms (Okay, for ONCE I don't exactly mind the Bajaj bg music they've used, I mean here in this scene, Riteish is just a father who lost his child so soon after the death of his wife...though God knows how much the man deserved his fate...this man was the one responsible for destroying so many lives, it's only fair that he has everything taken away from him. If only it wasn't Kuhu...Cry). He keeps attempting to wake Kuhu up. He looks at Laboni, remembering how she had cursed him with knowing exactly how it would feel having your family torn apart. Laboni shakes her head, understanding that he remembered her curse, signaling to how that she would have never wanted things to turn out this way. He turns his gaze to Kuhu, and cries his heart out.
Onu looks at Kuhu, and remembers how -- 8 years ago -- he had been at her naming ceremony (which according to the soap's timeline, is practically impossible, but when CVs don't even care about important plot points like Onu's pagalpann, why in the world would they care about the specifics of this?Confused) In this flashback, Neelu complains to Shekhar about Riteish having to go for a business trip on the day of Kuhu's annaprashna, and wonders where the boys are. Shekhar tells Neelu that Robi must be coming soon, and at this point Onu arrives. Neelu asks him whether he knows why the first grains of rice are placed in the child's mouth by the maternal uncle. Smiling, Onu asks why. Neelu explains how the word 'mama' signifies the doubled resposibility of the maternal uncle - as the mother's brother - in the child's upbringing, for the word itself is 'ma' doubled. Ananya agrees and tells him that he should never forget his responsibility to her daughter (Lovely to see Garima back Clap even if it's for a couple of minutes) Racked by grief, Onu leaves the living room to his own room.
The scene shifts to Jonaki crying in her room, regretting what she has done. She reflects on the fact that her desire to take revenge on Taani pushed an innocent child to her death, and realises that her greed for money has left her totally alone, with no one to turn to or love (The actress playing Jonaki I must admit did a good job with this scene...) Suddenly, behind her, she hears Robi's child crying because he has hurt himself (New baby I see...Shonaa/Sadi must be disappointed Wink) Jonaki rushes to embrace him and realises in the process, that she DOES have someone to love and protect, and cries in gratitude.
Neelu enters Onu's room and tells Onu that it's time for him to come down, and that without him and her, Shekhar and Taani will be completely broken. Onu tells Neelu that he cannot go down because everytime he looks at Kuhu he is confronted with his failure to live up to his promise to Ananya. Neelu tells Onu that there is nothing they can do, and all that can really be done is for them to pick up the pieces and help Shekhar and Taani get over this tragedy. She tells Onu that Taani has not spoken a word since Kuhu's death. She says, if for no one else, at least for the sake of your Taani, come down. Onu relents and makes his way downstairs, where Taani is still frozen.
It is now time for Kuhu's antim kriya, and Laboni tries to push Taani into at least saying goodbye to Kuhu before the cremation. Taani is jolted out of her frozen state, and pushes Riteish aside, telling him that it is time for Kuhu to be put in her bed, as she is only sleeping. She rationalises that being at the mela must have made her extraordinarily tired and there is nothing wrong with her. Onu tries to control her, but at some point she starts screaming that they can't take Kuhu away from her because she is her daughter, and cries when Riteish finally takes her away.
