Hamari Devrani 22nd April 2011 Written Update

When the Manjula and her hench-women, have their part, it raises my blood pressure and the only grace is the part of Ashta, Vrinda and Canadian Aunt, who also falls for their tricks and hits all the wrong buttons. Due to the negativity of this Serial, I have decided that I will not be writing the updates for this serial from now on. Please watch this serial on line, or live, from now on. Others are welcome to continue the Weekly Updates.

Hamari Devrani 21st April 2011 Written Update

The grown up women of the Nanavati house show craftiness on one side, behave like grown up teenagers, and in order to get the Canadian Aunt on their side, try their level best to try all their tricks in their bag, but they always seem to fail. Even though they pose to be devout in their faith, they do not show any repect to the sacredness of their rituals, and do not hesitate to tamper with the offering to God. What better can one expect from them? Now they want to make their Canadian Aunt against Vrinda who is a true devotee of Laddo Gopal, and having Ashta on her side makes her invincible, and Canadian Aunt finds Vrinda having all the qualities of a good bahu, and the old ones, have forgotten their duties.

Manjula has already been discovered in the Aunt's room by Ashta, and she has given the proportions for sugar for the laddos, and now if the others try to fiddle, the game plan will back fire. At the poojam the turmeric in the laddos is discovered and the bahuranis pujt the blame on Vrinda, but Ashta who was there in the kitchen where they were ebing prepared is surprised, and what will these so called devoted Mothers do, once she discovers their evil ways. These women, had plotted against her mother, and now they are out to do the same to her new mother. At that time Laddo Gopal always saved Bhakti, and now he is going to do the same to her second Mother.

Hamari Devrani 20th April 2011 Written Update

When Vrinda serves the ladies of the house, Jalpa notices the tear in her saree, and brings it to the notice of the rest, and the women pounce on her like wild cats, but Canadian Aunt forgives her. She asks her to prepare laddos for the pooja and goes to meet a friend.

Manjula can not accept defeat, and when Jalpa tells her that she is getting old and senile, she gets more aggressive. Every time Vrinda outwits them, and they forget that she is an actress too, and can anticipate their moves. Added to their misfortune, Ashta always comes in the middle of their plans and gets them into trouble. This time, Manjula escapes from being caught, but some higher force is on the side of Vrinda and Ashta. They have forgotten that they are in this haveli, only out of the good will of late Bhakti, the mother of Ashta.

Hamari Devrani 19th April 2011 Written Update

The Canadian Aunt, and what she is up to, is upper most in the minds of the Nanavati Women. Ashta and Vrinda are secure in their knowledge that they are safe in one another's care. The women have planned to plant some rats in Vrinda's cup board, so that they can eat her sarees. They gloat with glee in their prowess, to outwit Vrinda. The high handed Manjula poses with her pouting her insolence, .at the notion, that someone has dared to come against her, and snatch from her the most precious possession of a niece she tended as a placebo for nearly two decades. She has forgotten that she has her own children, who have not as yet given her grand children, but she is blissfully unaware even of their whereabouts, for nearly a long time since the Maasi and her entourage left for the jail. Possibly with the twist, the actors too have disappeared from the sets.......

Canadian Aunt has called all for a meeting, and all have been asked to wear the sarees she gave them. While all the wives of Nanavati men, come down, Vrinda is busy checking the mischief played by these five "cats" with their "rats", which she has discovered while opening the cup board, and noticing that the gift of the Canadian Aunt has been eaten by the Rat from the Cats. She is busy undoing the damage, while the Cats are waiting below to see the fun from their pun.

At first the women, are very cheerful as they wait in expectation of what their Aunt has to tell them. When they find Vrinda has not come down, the Aunt wants to go up, but Manjula prevents her, and the rest of her sisters, join in the chorus. But suddenly they are jolted back to earth, as they see a well dressed Vrinda in their midst. The women lose their poise and stare. Jalpa with her open mouth and big eyes, is about to let her war cry, but stifles it. What has gone wrong with their plan again?

Manjula suspects that their mother in law has bequeathed all the property to Mohan;s wife. Long time ago, in one of Manjula's escapades, the Nanavati house was auctioned, and ultimately, repurchased by Mohan, and the famous five were thrown out. Then it was Bhakti who brought them back, and they have been like this ever since, with their up and down antics.

Hamari Devrani 18th April 2011 Written Update

The plotting Bahuranis are in the kitchen, demonstrating the skills of hoodwinking their aunt. A long show of their skills is presented for the benefit of the viewers.

In the bedroom, Ashta is consoling Vrinda, and then she goes down to meet her aunts. The Canadian aunt is with them and Ashta comes to her in tears, and it melts her Canadian Heart and they all go to Vrinda to call her, to serve food. The Bahuranis have planned to fix the food, to implicate Vrinda further.

On the dining table the Bahuranis insist that the Canadian Aunt should start with the carrot halwa, and when she puts the spoon in her mouth, the crooked five, are waiting to see the fun, but the Canadian Aunt says, "Solid, nice". The crooked five wonder what has gone wrong. Then Vrinda explains that she saw the Aunt having insulin injection and knew she was diabetic, and made the halwa again without sugar. The Aunt scolds the Bahuranis for not informing Vrinda about her sickness. They blame one another, and betray themselves.

Now they have to think of a new plan. Shobana Desai the producer, has from the beginning of this Serial, wanted to make the Crooked Five her villains of the show, first they were against Bhakti, and then against Padmini, and when she was gone, and they had the 17 year leap, they used the Maasi,episode to gruel the audience with their antics, and when they were sent to jail, they have this Vrinda to contend with. She has shown the Gujarati women in a new light and perhaps she knows her people better, and wants to enlighten the Indian audience, what she thinks of her people. So far no one has raised their voices in defense of their women. Here the fight is between the two good human beings, Ashta and Vrinda with the Five Crooked Women ! Ultimately, after they had their fill, Shobana Desai will show that the good will prevail. Till then have patience.

Hamari Devrani 15th April 2011 Written Update

The women, under the leadership, of the crafty Manjula have all decided to make Vrinda's life miserable. Vrinda apologizes to them, that things happened so quickly, she had to yield to Ashta's demand, and she and Mohan had to marry. This does not convince Manjula and the other ladies, who still believe that Vrinda has captured Ashta with black magic, which was a common tool, in Manjula's hand in the past, so she thinks others too are capable of doing so. But Vrinda's behavior is quite in contrast to the show which the women exhibit, one of below average intelligence, filled with empty belligerence, and loud words. Vrinda is quiet and does what she should do, and Ashta always supports her rather than the other aunts, and this galls them a lot.

The whole show is a display, of how the five can stoop low, in the wrong belief, that they are doing all this for the sake of Ashta, while she, under developed as she is, shows better judgment and sides her new Mother. Even Mohan is on her side, and tells her to be Ashta's mother, and he will not impose on her his rights of being her husband. She does not say anything.

Hamari Devrani 14th April 2011 Written Update

The five aunts, and determined to stop Vrinda from marrying Mohan, but in the hospital, the men have persuaded Mohan to get married to Vrinda, according to the wishes of Ashta, and the marriage is arranged in the hospital. The women are invited by the men, but they make a furore and the men tell them it can not be stopped, and they should come,.

In the hospital, the marriage ceremony takes place in Ashta's room, and she is happy, and the pandit declares the marriage is complete, and Mohan and Vrinda are husband and wife. The women, come marching along the hospital corridor, but they reach late, and then they try to persuade Ashta with the hope that they will be able to kick Vrinda from their midst. To their surprise and disappointment, Ashta chooses Vrinda over the Aunts, and tells Manjula who was hoping to stay with her in the hospital, that she can go home, as she has her new Mother, Vrinda Ma. Manjula's jaw drops.

They go home and are still planning to make a show down, when the couple comes home. As Vrinda kicks the rice bowl, and enters the house, Manjula stares at Vrinda and she in turn looks at her like a tigress waiting to pounce on its prey,.

They have not seen what Vrinda is capable of. Dev and Ashta had seen her first hand, when she tackled the robbers. Wait for more show downs, between Vrinda and the other Devranis. Who will have the final round?

Hamari Devrani 13th April 2011 Written Update

The Aunts are in the hospital, and they have driven Vrinda away, who is in front of the temple and praying. The five guardians of Ashta, the aunts, bicker about Ashta, who is in intensive care. The men too, are on one side, worried. The doctor comes out and they want to know what the condition of Ashta is. He asks who is Vrinda. The aunts dodge the question, but do not get any answer. The doctor wants Vrinda to go inside and meet the patient.

Two women are deputed to find Vrinda, whom they find near the temple, and impute wrong motives on Vrinda, and consider themselves having a greater interest for Ashta in their hearts, which the casual viewer will not be able to believe. But they indeed do things as they think are fit for the welfare of their niece. Vrinda finally comes and meets Ashta. She has regained consciousness, and tells Vrinda to marry her father, and then her father is sent for, and Ashta puts the hands of Vrinda in the hands of Mohan, and extracts a promise, that hey will marry, and not ever, leave her alone.

The Aunts go home to prepare soup for Ashta, and then men are alone. Mohan comes and tells them what Ashta has said, and they too come to the conclusion, that it is for the good of Ashta that he should marry Vrinda. It is decided, and Mohan proposes to Vrinda, who obviously accepts.

In the preview, we are shown Manjula and her tantrums, and her copious tears, that Mohan has succumbed to Vrinda's tactics, and in spite of her age, and her love for Ashta, she does not know human nature, nor she knows to judge people. It is a pity, money floods into the hands of people like this, and good human beings like Vrinda are left penniless.

Hamari Devrani 12th April 2011 Written Update

The Aunts try to convince Ashta that the person she saw was not the thief, as the one was caught and put in the prison by the police. She is not convinced. Dav gets a call from the merchant who tells him that the shop will be closed for the next two days, so he decides to take Ashta and go to the shop to get the merchandise.

In the shop, the coolie appears again, and Ashta spots him, and tells Dev, that he is the thief. When Dev tries to confront him and ask him who told him to tell lies about Vrinda, he says, no one, but that he had stolen the jewels himself. Ashta can not make head or tail of what he says. She call her aunts, and they come rushing, as Manjula knows he is her man. Before he can let the cat out of the bag, she puts a stop to him, by slapping him, and shoving some cash in his hand, and drives him away.

Ashta knows that Vrinda Ma was not at fault, and as she insists on finding her, Manjula promises her to do that. Ashta is not satisfied, and when Dev finds her mobile number, he gets the address, and they go to meet her. Vrinda has just given back the keys of her house, and is leaving town. Ashta spots her in the rickshaw, and runs after her and meets with an accident, and Vrinda, and Dev take her to the hospital. As usual with all the Hindi serials, they have bandaged the forehead, and there is a red splash on one side of the bandage, and the impression is given, that the accident is so serious, that her life is in danger. The doctors huddle around and discuss on getting a second opinion, and she is taken for the CT scan. Vrinda and Dev are sincerely waiting outside for a good outcome.

The then five ogres come rushing to the hospital, moaning and sobbing, and making all sorts of noises, to show that they are very concerned aunts. The whole display of their behavior appears like a big sham. They make faces, and then lecture to Vrinda, and tell her to leave. She is shown to be a pathetic woman, not knowing her way, in this jungle rulled by the tigresses of Nanavati house.

Hamari Devrani 11th April 2011 Written Update

As usual the ladies of the house discuss on their plans, and how they manged to foil Ashta and her insistence to get her father married.

All except Manjula think, that the jewelry was taken by Vrinda, and even though I thought that Ashta might have known that it could not be Vrinda, she too is believing her Great Aunt Manjula, but complains to Laddoo Gopal, and asks him, why she allows such things.

Dev goes to the market and brings some bales of stuff for the work in their factory, and takes a coolie from there and they put the stuff in the taxi and come home.

The coolie, happens to be the same guy who brought back the jewelry, in the night. When he sees Manjula, he is afraid, and even though he had to take some money from Dev, he hides and moves to another part of the house. There Ashta spots him, and then she recollects that it was the same person she saw the previous night, but the man runs away. Dev goes after him, and then catches him, and gives him a thrashing. Just then, Manjula too rushes to the same spot, but no one questions Manjula, how she found him and came after him. She too looks sternly at him and he is at a loss as to what he should do.

Manjula does not want him to say the deal he made with her. She wants her reputation at home intact.
