Damadamm Hindi Movie Review:

Himesh is all set to return to the silver screen with the romantic comedy Damadamm, this Diwali. After composing music for several films, Himesh decided to turn actor and went on to star in Aap Kaa Surroor, Karzzzz, Radio and ‘Kajraare’. Undeterred by the failure of his films, Himesh says he will get “back into the race” with his new film that takes inspiration from the comedy kings of yesteryears, “I have been a huge Hrishikesh Mukerjee fan and wanted to do a truly entertaining light hearted comedy made with a lot of honesty and sincerity which somehow my previous films lacked.” He praises director Swapna Waghmare with, “I think after Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Basu & Anand Rai, the next director from the television industry who will hit the bulls eye in films will be Swapna Joshi.”

Himesh, who attended a 40-day workshop for the film, sees no problem with the fact that his film might clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s superhero film, RA.One, at the box-office, “There can’t be any comparison as Shah Rukh Khan is the Badshah of Bollywood and ‘RA. One’ will be surely the best film of the year but since ‘Damadamm’ is in a sweet comedy zone there is always room to watch a feel good entertainer on Diwali if its content is strong which I’m very sure of this time.”

Cyclekick is the story of how small things, no matter how modest to us, can be the most sought after treasure for another.
Its the story of two brothers, Ramu (Actors Name) and his younger brother Deva (Actors Name). They live in a small coastal village and without parents have grown up relying only on life’s necessities. Ramu works all morning and attends college in the afternoon just so that he can send Deva to a decent school. Both boys can’t see their lives altering…
Until one day they find a beaten up cycle. The repair it and swiftly their lives change. Ramu is able to be more productive and take up extra jobs and Deva fulfills his dream of owning a cycle, which is seen as a symbol of status in this sleepy village. Their lives are looking up…
Then suddenly the cycle is stolen. Ramu and Deva search for the thief and it leads them to Ali (Actors Name). Ali is a feisty young man using the cycle as a way to make an impression. For him, it makes him the centre of attention finally. Ramu and Deva confront Ali who swears he didn’t steal the bike and won’t let it go easily.
In the middle of this conflict, the coach of the Government College Ramu and Ali study at (Tom Alter), proposes a nobel way to settle the dispute – a football match. The lives of the affluent and illustrious have often been chronicled in newspapers and television. The achievements get as much prominence as the heinous crimes they commit. Recall the number of drunken driving cases that led to fatal accidents and causalities or abduction of moneyed kids to make that extra buck. SHAITAN too borrows from real life. It maps out the lives of five youngsters -- three of them belonging to the upper crust -- and how the 'uber cool' youngsters commit felony after felony to smokescreen the dreadful offense they have committed. This motion picture brings to the fore the shaitan that skulks within us.

It's heartening to observe diverse genres being attempted fruitfully week after week and I genuinely feel that a varied variety of movies can co-exist happily in the cinematic milieu. In fact, it's imperative to be more acquiescent and embrace new genres of cinema. SHAITAN, again, is something the Indian audiences will experience for the first time. It emulates an actuality and the makers have tried to keep it as bona fide as possible, and it is this realism, edginess and awkwardness that stay with the spectator after the curtains fall. The fact that one feels distressed and distraught by the turn of incidents in the film only goes to prove that the writers [Megha Ramaswamy and Bejoy Nambiar] and director [Bejoy Nambiar] have done their jobs proficiently.

SHAITAN narrates the story of five youngsters who are out to have an irresponsibly reckless escapade, but get involved in a botched crime. Also, there's talk that SHAITAN incorporates the infamous Adnan Patrawala kidnap-and-murder case in its plot, which isn't true at all. Sure, there's abduction and also a spate of murders, but it doesn't borrow from that episode in any way. The film drives home a reality that the youngsters are aggressive, sexual, brutal, edgy and well aware of everything happening around. They like to investigate the darker side and push the envelope till they can be brought in check by power and command.

Anurag Kashyap's films have often been labeled 'dark' and though I oppose this jargon, I do harmonize with the fact that his films have a certain constituent of wickedness and iniquity that SHAITAN also encompasses. What really makes SHAITAN stand out from films of its ilk is that it captures the pragmatism or matter-of-factness characteristic most compellingly. The circumstances in life when the inner demons come to the fore and people are forced to react in farthest method [violent, in most cases] have been depicted intelligibly and most eloquently. Also, what makes it all the more interesting is the fact that the film is very well shot -- the novel angles and high speed shots make it an exhilarating cinematic experience.

SHAITAN is the story of five youngsters set in the urban scape of Mumbai. Amy [Kalki], Dash [Gulshan], KC [Shiv], Zubin [Neil] and Tanya [Kirti] -- young, intelligent, good looking and 'uber cool'. With no hang ups and no boundaries, excitement is what they seek till a moment changes everything. An accident and their actions to cover up lead them through a series of incidents across the roads, streets and bylanes of Mumbai and into the dark side that lurks within all of us.

Inspector Mathur [Rajeev Khandelwal], entrusted with the unenviable task of chasing the youngsters down, exposes the underbelly of the police system and crime while grappling with his inner shaitan.

Watching SHAITAN is like experiencing a tasteful David Fincher movie that's set in our neighborhood and helmed by an Indian film-maker. First-time director Bejoy Nambiar marries form and content magnificently; it's wielded with technical fastidiousness, while the various pulse-pounding episodes lead to a striking culmination. It's without doubt an intelligent offering with a poignant insight into the lives of five youngsters. The beauty lies in the fact that Bejoy not only takes into custody the erratic behavior of the youngsters, but also attempts to delve into their psyche. Also, the film explores how the addictive world of drugs and alcohol is corrupting and devastating the youth, although it restricts itself from getting into the sermonizing mode. In fact, it's a manifestation of what's happening around us in the current scenario.

I am tempted to mention all the sequences that gave me goose bumps, but that would be unfairly giving away too much. However, I wish to state that the sequence that changes the lives of the five youngsters -- the car chase and the crash -- is spine chilling. Your heart is in your mouth in this particular sequence. Beyond doubt, this is one of the most stimulating and intense films to come out of the Hindi film industry and Bejoy is unquestionably one of the most alluring discoveries of the year. He is far superior to a lot of established film-makers in the business.

I'd like to make a special mention of the spectacular cinematography [Madhie], novel, hard-hitting and forceful dialogues [Abhijeet Deshpande] and marvelous background score [Ranjit Barot]. The chase sequence [Jaaved Ejaaz] towards the second hour specifically is simply remarkable. Ditto for the sound design [Kunal Sharma], which is top notch.

On the flip side, the first hour isn't as persuasive. Perhaps, the motive was to reserve the best for the second hour. Also, the Rajeev Khandelwal track -- his marriage is on the rocks -- looks like a forced and unnatural add-on in the scheme of things. Without beating around the bush, the narrative could've done without the scenes of marital discord. Also, with such hard-hitting, uncompromising and dynamic content, SHAITAN could've easily been a songless film, though the soundtrack is wonderful.

The beauty of the film is that there are no heroes in the conventional terms. The protagonists are all victims who face the consequences of their decisions and assessments. Also, SHAITAN has an ensemble cast and offers ample scope for each character to perform. Rajeev Khandelwal, playing a cop who's fighting his inner demons, nails the role, giving a tight, focused performance. Kalki is excellent. She's sure to wow and shock the audiences with her act. Neil Bhoopalam is first-rate. Especially towards the latter moments of the film. Shiv Pandit gives a good account of himself. Kirti Kulhari is super efficient. Gulshan Deviah is top notch. The peculiar behavior comes across very well in several sequences. Rajat Barmecha appears in an interesting cameo.

The supporting cast also delivers fine performances. Pavan Malhotra is first-rate. Rajit Kapur leaves an impression. Nikhil Chinnappa is good. Rukhsar makes her presence felt. Rajkumar Yadav gets it right yet again.

On the whole, SHAITAN is bound to raise eyebrows thanks to its contemporary, thrilling, hard-hitting and forceful content. One of the most ingenious and entertaining thrillers I've seen in a long time. Also, it's one of the most stimulating and intense films to come out of the Hindi film industry. I am sure everyone would be able to connect with SHAITAN. Try not to miss this one!

Shaitan is upcoming Bollywood movie of Arshad Warsi and Kalki Koechlin. Shaitan release date is now final and it is 8 April 2011. Do you remember Kalki Koechlin? She gave stunning performance in Dev D and good news for her fans is that now she is playing leading female role in this movie. Complete star cast of Shaitan includes Arshad Warsi, Kalki Koechlin, Jakie Shroff, Rajit Kapoor and Shiv Pandit. Shaitan is also very important for Arshad Warsi because he fail to produce any solo hit so far and this is good chance for him to prove himself.

Inspector Arvind Mathur is a sincere, honest and upright police inspector who specializes in kidnapping cases. Quite often, his sincerity towards his profession and the angst within has got the better of him, both at work and at home. He seeks to do his job as honestly as he can, despite repeated warnings from his boss. Tanya - Pretty & petite. Tanya wants to be a supermodel. Or does she? Actually, her sister wants her to a supermodel. Working her way through numerous nameless ads, Tanya wants to break free. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who has been writing his autobiography for several years, now says it’s almost ready for release. The book, titled Twenty Years In A Decade, will focus on the life of the 45-year-old actor, from 1991 to 2001.

“I have written a book and its complete now. I will ask my writer friends to edit it so that I can release it. I have been writing it over last ten years. It is titled Twenty Years In A Decade because I feel that in ten years I have lived a life of 20 years between 1991-2001. The book is about positivity, hope and it is also funny, just like me. I have written things about my life in the most fun way,” Shah Rukh Khan said.

SRK made his acting debut in 1988 when he appeared in the television series, Fauji, and in 1989 did another TV soap called Circus. The actor made his Bollywood debut with Raj Kanwar’s Deewana in 1992 alongside Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti. The film was a box office hit.

Sharing details about his book, King Khan said, “There are very personal things in it… though selective memories. Also, there is a chapter on journalism. I have also written about my personal things.”

The 45-year-old says his favourite chapter is the one that talks about his parents. “One of my favourite chapters in the book is which talks about my mother and father… which I completed in almost eight pages.”

One of the most frequently repeated terms to describe and legitimise Bollywood's silliest products is "paisa vasool." This patronising yet appreciative phrase denotes giving up, the person using the term confessing that while the film in question is harebrained and stupid, it may still end up a sequel-spawning behemoth at the box office.

Salman Khan's [ Images ] recent films frequently fall into this category, lovers of the "paisa vasool" phrase gorging on the predictable mindlessness: a few rude gags, a few politically incorrect ones, each tragically unfunny, a sketchy plot that nevertheless must be spelt out in full, some sexist dialogue to the heroine, some random Sallu Bhai in-jokes, one climactically hyped moment of shirtlessness. Yet the phrase is used just like it would be at a shaadi buffet with mediocre catering -- we call it "paisa vasool" because we don't actually spend a single coin to watch it.

If, however, I had to pay to watch Ready, Anees Bazmee's latest film, I would feel sorely insulted. One doesn't and can't really take offense at a bad film, but a film that doesn't even try… Now that's a whole different league of idiocy. It's all very well to turn Priyadarshanese into a bloody genre, but films like Ready often don't even feel like actual films: just a showcase of Sallu Bhai and his intentionally-limited skills. The plot is puerile, the characters are stock, and the heroine is a prop, all so that Salman can strut around like a megastar and some of us can applaud indulgently as if watching a twelve-year-old paint the roof of a chapel. With a chappal. (Yeah, that pun would have made it into Bazmee's script easy.)

To make things clear, this is not Dabanng. Looking at that historically huge hit, one can see what works: Salman swaggers around the place in a moustache, sure, but there is also a fundamental reliance on plot, however inanely formulaic. In this latest film, Khan seems to be pushing his own rather frightening envelope -- "How little can I get away with?" "Will they pay to just watch me smirk?" "Can I do this scene campy and that scene straight?" "Will the audience eat up random groin thrusts if only I use the hilarious word 'peoples' over and over again?" -- and Ready, as a result, falls flat for lack of trying. It is a film trying to coast on Salman while Salman tries to coast on his own star-wattage, and so we have a film with a first half that takes ages to get going and a second half that just doesn't end.

The plot, seemingly filched from Bazmee's own, far funnier Welcome, with a pinch of Priyadarshan's [ Images ] Hulchul, revolves around two warring mafia families trying to nab a young girl's inheritance. It unfolds simply, conveniently, and very predictably indeed. After all it is just backdrop. There are a few gags, of course, and Khan occasionally does as only stars very aware of their own deification can: sell an impossible scene, and despite all the bad writing, make it work simply by dint of his screen presence. But even that seems mostly muted in this nothing film.

I have previously remarked that Asin's [ Images ] last name must secretly be Ine, and here the actress is even more insufferable than before, and doesn't even look nice while she annoys. Mahesh Manjrekar [ Images ], Manoj Joshi, Sharat Saxena do what they can, but this film -- where the comedic highpoint is the fact that two morons are named after Salman flops, Veer and Yuuvraaj -- doesn't give anyone, especially the talented and creatively abused Paresh Rawal [ Images ], any wiggle room.

Those who are clapping for this film almost got the phrase right, only it's more extortionate than value for money: the accurate term is "paisa vasooli." Pay up.

Murder 2 is an upcoming Bollywood erotic thriller film and the sequel to the 2004 film Murder. The film stars Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead. It is directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. It is scheduled for release on July 8, 2011. The theatrical trailer of the film will be revealed with Ready.

Murder 2 has been inspired by legendary stories of such serial killers and other dark characters like psychopaths. It is rumoured to be inspired by films like Saw and Hostel.

Some of these stories have been myths while others are facts but Bhatts and director Mohit Suri have tried to incorporate those elements which are the most intriguing”, informs a source, “You pick up any major city in India and it has it’s own story to tell when it comes to such serial killings. Mumbai has its own share while Delhi too has it’s own. Goa setting comes into picture here because it again has a history of serial killers.
