Click Here For Watch OnlineWrestlemania is almost here folks and you can feel the buzz in the air. While some may argue that this year’s Wrestlemania might be on the predictable side. I still can’t help but get stoked considering how strong the card looks. You have the Miz and Alberto Del Rio arguably two of the hottest young heels in wrestling right now.
Taker and Triple H may not have generated as much excitement as HBK vs. Taker. But when all is said and done this could turn out to be one heck of a match. Not to mention a couple of possible sleepers on the card. Throw in the Rock, Stone Cold, and Trish Stratus, and you have yourself a great night of wrestling.
I will go be going over every match on the card and giving my predictions on who I feel will come out the big winners this year. So sit back, relax, and I hope you enjoy this year’s preview and predictions of this year’s Wrestlemania. Also, feel free to let me know if you think I am full of it lol.
Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella, and Vladimir Kozlov vs. The Corre (Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater, and Justin Gabriel
This is one of the few matches where I feel the WWE dropped the ball on. I know they want to try and find a way to get everyone involved. But throwing together a rushed eight man tag match is not the way to go about things.
They could have had Wade Barrett defend his IC title against Kofi Kingston and had a triple threat match for the Tag Titles with the rest involved. It is kind of inexcusable not having the IC title and Tag Titles not being defended on the biggest night of the year.
I expect this to be your standard eight man tag match where everyone gets to show their skills off a little. If I had to guess this match won’t go past the ten minute mark when all is said and done. Expect the Corre to come out ahead seeing as they need this more than Kane, The Big Show, and company
Winner via pinfall The Corre (Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater, and Justin Gabriel
Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan for the U.S. Title
While I am a bit disappointed at the lack of build up for this bout, I have to say I like the prospect of seeing these two go at it this Sunday. In one corner you have Sheamus who has spent the last few months being absolutely buried. In the other you have the ever talented Daniel Bryan who can deliver a five star match at the drop of a time.
Looking at this match from non biased standpoint you have to evaluate who needs this win more. While you can make a case for both men in this one, I do feel Sheamus needs this win more than Bryan. Let’s face facts, since Daniels became the U.S. Champ they have done very little with him.
It is about time he broke free from the U.S. Title and moved on to bigger thinks. This would be a good opportunity for the WWE to groom him as a top face. Sheamus on the other hand would get a nice amount of steam back with a win at Wrestlemania.
As far as the match goes, I really think if given the proper time this could be the show stealer of the night. Both men are solid in the ring and both are more than capable delivering in a big spot. Let’s just hope the WWE does the right thing and give them more than ten minutes to deliver the goods.
Winner via pinfall Daniel Bryan
Snooki, Trish Stratus, and John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler and Lay-Cool (w/ Vickie Guerrero)
I will start of by saying that I have never been a fan of these celebrity matches. They not only seem silly but they really do take a spot that could be given to someone more deserving. With that said I have seen worse celeb matches booked in the past. Mainly because we get to see Trish Stratus make her Wrestlemania return.
The two sacrificial lambs involved in this bout are Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison. Both have worked really hard and deserve a more high profile match than this one. I’m sure both will treat this bout as an important match and deliver the high quality in ring action that both always do. After all it is an honor just being put on the Mania card.
It just feels like they are being wasted in this spot. I’m also sure Trish will be fine in this match when she does see action. The one person most people probably could care less about is Snooki. In fairness though, she didn’t look terrible on Raw a little ways back.
Winner via pinfall Snooki, Trish Stratus, and John Morrison
Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes
Out of all the matches on the card this one seems like it has been vastly overlooked. Maybe because this feud has been a Smackdown exclusive and it didn’t get as much exposure as it should have. When the WWE asked Rey who he wanted to wrestle at this year’s show he handpicked Cody.
To me that says a lot about the respect he has for the third generation star. This has also been one of the few matches where the WWE gave it the proper build up it needed (if you watch Smackdown every week you would know this). Rhodes has delivered some dynamite promos as of late and it looks as if it is his time to shine.
I really don’t see the point in having Mysterio go over Rhodes in this one. He has had many Wrestlemania moments and a win on Sunday doesn’t add much to his resume. Rhodes will get the win and hopefully this will lead to bigger and better things for him in the next year.
Winner via pinfall Cody Rhodes
Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
To say this feud had a lot of potential would be a big understatement. When you have two guys like Punk and Orton who are way over with the crowd building an interesting story should be as easy as a paint by number set. Sadly the WWE bookers completely screwed the pooch when they put this together.
They turned Orton into some unbeatable superman who took out Nexus like it was nothing. The only saving grace has been some more than outstanding mic work from the always reliable CM Punk. If not for him this might have turned out to be a total bust.
The one thing I do know about this match is that it will be good. Orton and Punk can both deliver top notch matches anytime they step in the squared circle. I wouldn’t be shocked if this went twenty minutes and it tears the house down.
As much as I want Punk to come out the victor I don’t see it happening. Orton is as almost untouchable as Cena at this point. Fear not though Punk Die hards, Punk can lose a thousand matches in a row and he will still be golden. In this business you don’t need to win to stay on top, just ask Chris Jericho.
Winner via pinfall Randy Orton
Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole (w/Jack Swagger) special guest referee “Stone Cold” Steve Austin
Over the last year Michael Cole has gone from a boring announcer to one of the most hated men in the WWE. That is an impressive feat deserves the praise from even the biggest Cole haters. There are times I just want choke the living hell out of him, and I am a fan of heels.
I also think it’s nice that Jerry Lawler gets his Wrestlemania match. He has given his life to the business and he should have been rewarded sooner than this. Call me goofy but I am enjoying the feud between him and Cole. It has helped keep to keep Raw interesting and I think this is their reward for a job well done. I am sure I won’t be setting any trends in saying that we will see Cole get the A$$ whooping he deserves.
Winner via pinfall Jerry Lawler
Triple H vs. The Undertaker in a No Holds Barred Match
I really think that both of these guys are taking a lot of unfair criticism when it comes to the buildup of this match. Even the “The Game” would be hard pressed in making this one seem special after the last two Taker matches at Wrestlemania.
The only way this bout could have even come close to that level was if Triple H put his career on the line. Since he has no plans of retiring anytime soon that would make a stipulation like that impossible. It was also smart that the WWE made this a no holds barred match.
Everyone knows that the Undertaker isn’t 100 percent and this type of bout can hide his injuries. While I don’t expect this to be a blockbuster that people will talk about for years. I do think both guys will go out there this Sunday and deliver an entertaining match. As far as who wins, there is no chance in hell Taker loses.
Winner via pinfall the Undertaker
The Miz vs. John Cena for the WWE Title
I’m not even sure where to start when it comes to the match between these two. Had you asked me a month ago I would have told you that there is no way the Miz retains. But that was then and this is now. When the Rock returned he shocked the wrestling world in ways it hasn’t been in years.
Now it seems that the writing is on the wall for a Cena vs. Rock match down the road. If you have been following the news you would know the Rock practically gave the ending of the match away. So I won’t be going out on a limb in saying that the Miz retains his title come Sunday.
I think both will deliver the goods and make this a more than entertaining title bout. My crystal ball says that this match will hit the twenty minute mark or more. In the end we will see the Rock come out and destroy both the Miz and Cena with the Miz picking up the win after he throws the Miz on top of Cena.
Winner via pinfall the Miz
Alberto Del Rio (w/ Brodus Clay) vs. Edge (w/ Christian)
Some may be wondering why I have this match listed over the Miz and Cena bout. Call me a traditionalist but I feel the winner of the Royal Rumble should always get top billing. Alberto Del Rio has had a monumental year, and he was properly rewarded with a Title match at Wrestlemania 27.
Click Here For Watch OnlineKeep an eye out for Christian this Sunday. The rumor birds are reporting that Christian will pull the heel turn and maybe interfere on behalf of Del Rio. If this turns out to be true this will create a fun storyline between the former tag team greats.
Both will look good, but I expect Del Rio to really shine in his Wrestlemania debut. It would make no sense for the WWE to build him up only to have him lose to the eleven time transy champ Edge. At Wrestlemania we will see Del Rio win the title, but you already knew that.
Winner via pinfall Alberto Del Rio
